ADDICTION PROFESSIONAL EDUCATION PROGRAM
Program Description
This 20 Semester Credit Hours (600 clock hours) program requires
24 weeks of training (evening/weekend) and provides the necessary
knowledge, skill and attitude development needed to be effective
in the treatment of alcohol and other drug dependency and
abuse. The program is designed to provide students that have
prior experience in the field of Alcohol and Drug Counseling
with a competency based educational program that meets certification
standards in California in the most time effective manner
available today. This program allows students to maintain
their positions as counselors while receiving ongoing clinical
supervision throughout the course of the program.
Program Objectives
This program will provide current Addiction Counselors with
the Professional Education needed to improve and maintain
positions in the field of Alcohol and Drug Treatment. This
course meets both the didactic and supervised fieldwork practicum
requirements of the California Certification Board of Alcohol
and Drug Counselors (CCBADC), established by California Association
of Alcoholism and Drug Counselors (CAADAC) for certification.
In order to be enrolled in the program one must be able to
verify a minimum of 2 years of addiction counseling experience.
After satisfactorily completing all courses, students will
be able apply for both the CCBADC written and oral examination
and upon passing the exam will receive the status as a Certified
Alcohol and Drug Counselor.
Occupational Objectives
The program's goal is to provide the alcohol and drug treatment
field with knowable and skilled counselors. The objective
is to meet the requirement and demand for certified counselors,
maintain and secure current employment, and provide the student
will advancement opportunities. |
